The way things are going with the Arushi murder case, the way her parents are being questioned and the way the blame-o-meter seemes to be pointing closer to the involvement of the parents in the crime only leaves us wondering as to how safe children are in their own homes. At the vortex of confusion and mystery that shrouds this case at this point in time there could not be a stronger suggestion of a hightened degree of foul play from within the Talwar family itself. Considering this state of affairs there is serious question of security in our homes. Have we reached such a state of depravity where parents are even suspected of such actions? But here we are glued to our television sets following the latest developments on the issue, wondering how things might turn out with the case. This sensational case has revited the media and public alike for a while now and it seems that almost everyone who has taken a keen interest in the proceedings has almost made up their mind about the result. With the new age setting in, where the generation gap has not be more vast or obvious, we are setting the stage for distrustful parent-child relationships. There will come a time when both sides will be wary of eachother and the sanctity of the relationship will diminish to an insignificant excuse of a bond. There is no moral police that may look into this problem and set it right. It is the individual who is responsible for his or her actions. There are no boundaries to foul play. Things happen if they have to. They may come to light and they may not. There may be many instances that may have never come to light. How do we call a home a home when it does not act like one? Are we nurturing a society where the security of children is a question of major concern? We do not even have to wonder what may happen at that stage. We already know.
