Just when you feel that you could not find yourself at a lower point in life and when everything you do just does not yeild the result you want take a holiday with the oldies!

Spend the weekend with your grandparents!

It’s not as boring as it sounds. It’s a great break from the routine of being with people your own age and you will definitely be doing things that you do not normally do daily.

This article comes to you after I spent a couple of days of my holidays with my old folks. My grandmother is a great cook and my grandfather pampers me like anything. What could be better?

That was what I was looking forward to. Eating and being pampered.... Reality check..... I am not five years old anymore! and neither are my grandparents growing any younger. I suddenly felt the roles reverse. Taking my laziness into account I just thought that these holidays would be long and tedious with me having to cook, clean and do other household chores... Selfish huh?? You could’nt be farther from the truth.

I could not refuse their requests for anything. The last thing I want to be tagged as is disrespectful and disobedient! So I cooked and learnt a few of those deliriously delicious recipies that my granny had a knack for.

I did some gardening for my grand dad. I even watered the garden and knew the joy of smelling the wet soil on a hot and sweltering day.

My grandparents are old people and they are not the same active people they used to be. They do need a hand here and there and almost everywhere, but I just started to enjoy working for a change.

It felt great to have them pat my back and tell me what a good job I had done with the chicken curry and how the dog looked healthier after I had been taking him out regularly for his exercise.

By the end of my stay I was rewarded with their blessings and good wishes. I was richer be a few recipies and some artful gardening tactics. I was happy that I had been able to be a part of their world, even though it was for a little while. All the late night parties, put together, were not match for the exhileration I felt at being appreciated by them.

I knew that I was not going to feel low for a long time now.
